Dont know about the moon but you are wrong about the sun! It only sets in the (exact) east in twice a year.
In winter it sets more round to the south and then through spring it moves a bit north each night past east up to a point around north-east. This point will depend on how far north you are.
If you a long way north, say the top of Norway, the sun "sets" so far north that it misses the horizon (earth) and just goes round again.
