The US didn't even bother testing the uranium gun weapon before dropping it on Hiroshoma, they were that certain of the design.

Another cock up - people who survived Hiroshima who decided to go and stay with Aunt Mabel in Nagasaki, with predictable consequences.

I've never seen it that way round, every one I've been in is free parking and pay for the bus. Must admit, a single charge for the parking then a free bus for however many would make more sense, but would probably cost them more.
It's never more than a quarter full in my experience. However, useful free parking if I can't do a full bike commute :okay:

The new Microsoft Teams/One Drive work prevention package; designed by technicians for technicians and where productivity dies.

Worse, the "IT support" can't see the problem and are getting increasingly defensive at the avalanche of frustrated calls (because emails don't work). They aren't doing anything about the actual problem; just telling people that it's "simple if you just use it how you're supposed to".

We've taken to storing everything we need on a USB stick because otherwise it's inaccessible when we come back for it. We can't even email a file without jumping through half a dozen hoops, so now every time someone else needs a file we have to run upstairs with a stick so they can upload it, then save it on their stick...

Ahh - we used to call that sneakernet, but we used floppy disks😁

America and Britain putting the Shah in in the firs place was the bigger mistake

Incorrect, at least according to Wikipedia. GDP increased 423 times over during his reign. Per capita income rose to the highest point in Iran's history. He spent billions of dollars on industry, health, education and military spending. His reign coincided with decades of sustained economic growth.

That reminds me, Jimmy Carter's failed rescue mission of the American Embassy hostages in Iran. I am not very clear on the details. A helicopter crashed, and the mission was aborted. It seemed like a pretty desperate mission anyway, if you ask me. It was preceded by weeks of dithering, which made America look weak. Carter paid the price at the next presidential election. I liked the guy, but he misjudged things.

Putin may have c*cked up even worse than we think. He's used up his Cold War stockpiles fighting the Ukrainians. He's lost a lot of men. Then Eastern Siberia has a lot of raw materials China would like, and a lot of fresh water in Lake Baikal. One of the czars took some of that territory off the Chinese. Just watched someone talk about it on YouTube.

I have it on good authority that 20 days after Noah took 2 unicorns onto the ark he realised that they were both males.

There was this classic image in a creationist book
