I wore a white shirt today. I haven't worn one for a few years as although I like the look, they do tend to go grubby on the neck and cuffs after a few hours, never mind wears. I've looked online for white shirts with detachable collars (so you only have to wash the collar, not the whole shirt), but the only ones I could find were those 'grandad'(union) shirts without collars, or 'vintage' (second and the rest hand) with detachable collars, but they were expensive and probably wouldn't fit well.
I'm thinking of buying these https://www.marksandspencer.com/3-p...rts/p/clp22464488#intid=crosssell_altfit_T112
I think it'd be better to buy a few rather than just the one, so I'd have enough to wear between fortnightly laundry visits. I do wash shirts here in my flat by hand, but if I had a few it'd be much easier than having to keep washing just the one by hand. I could even buy a pack of 5. https://www.marksandspencer.com/5-p...clp60456820#intid=crosssell_joinedline_T11233. M&S without being 'outstanding' are reasonably well made. These shirts are more polyester than cotton, which should help repel the grubby neck and cuffs more and not crease as much as 100 percent cotton. With having a long arms problem whichever pack I buy I'll try one on then if they are too short in the arm I can take the shirts back to the nearest M&S store 6 miles away, rather than post them back to the supplier, but hopefully If I order them with a 15 inch neck they should be long enough.

I have in the past wiped a white or pale blue shirt collar with a slightly damp dish cloth with a bit of Vanish stain bar soap on. It does the job on a shirt that's only been worn for a few hours and does not need fully washing. That's why shirts in 'the old days' had detachable collars. You could wash the collar much easier than washing the whole thick cotton shirt that'd take ages to dry, before the days of spin and tumble dryers.

@Accy cyclist Have you heard of Charles Tyrwhitt shirts ? They have a vast selection, plain colours and lots of colours / patterns and the beauty of them is you can select a collar size and then select which sleeve length you would prefer. I only have a couple of their shirts whereas my son who has to wear a suit, collar and tie for his work buys them four at a time as he can be sure that by selection the sizing options to best suit him they always look good.

I have heard of them ( I have 2 or 3 of their shirts), but not that they offer various collar and sleeve length sizes. Thanks for that information. :okay: I'll have a look at your link in a while.

They were my supplier of choice when I was in paid employment. And someone else paid.
And Beene(?) An American brand that made very good hard wearing office shirts.
