I am still not 100% following September's abdominal problems nor October's massive 20+kg weight loss. The loss has not been fat but muscle and it has come from where I need it most - thighs and lower back; I now cannot stand for long and have to resort to a wheelchair in supermarkets!
I took delivery of a new bike (Trek 3900 Disc) 2 weeks ago and have done 2 short rides totalling 15 kms (up to yesterday). Last night, I decided to revert to my usual procedure when I am recovering - get on the bike and ride it out! I have set up the bike so I can get on it and hopefully over the coming weeks, I will be able to tweak it mm by mm so it will be in the optimum position for me!
Today's ride - just over 3 kms on the flat followed by 1 km slight climb to a petrol station for a coffee and then back again. Feeling good with no aches and pains!

I'm not surprised that you have no aches and pains losing over 20kg of muscle, there'll be nothing left to ache! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

That's good news Mr H. Little and often is the way forward, sometimes you will have to rein yourself in. Also remember to take a rest day as this is when your muscles really benefit.
Good luck with the recovery.

Well done Mr Hippo hope you make a full recovery. Been through the same this year with rheumatism, started on the flat &low miles. Now after a couple of months, pretty much back to normal.
Take it steady it will come back , all the best to you

I can only endorse the rest of the comments. However, you've picked a pretty tough time to start recovery, mid winter! Best of riding to you sir, I doff my cap (eh .... bike helmet).
