The late '90s chart-adjacent but less-horrible progressive & euphoric trance thread

I've always been into EDM though I wouldn't like to pin myself to a genre, my main interest is anything from around late 1980 - late 1990s.

Two albums I bought in lockdown as trip down memory lane were "Ministry of Sound Chilled I + II" which accross 6 CDs covers a lot of stuff. Tracklistings are on Discogs if you need them.

And at the opposite end of that spectrum is this, my tape pack (remember them lol) is long gone but it lives on:

I think the majority of music lovers on here who post about music, go for that heavy metal, goth, thrash, deathrock, darkwave grunge; mostly unintelligible screaming stuff.

I await a slating.

I've often thought the same and tbh would count myself amongst them for the most part (although can't be doing with unintellible screamy stuff). An appreciation for different genres doesn't have to be mutually exclusive though

I don't know of this qualifies, I don't mind trance etc but don't follow it enough to know what belongs to what genre and what time period..
But anyway, always enjoy most Astral Projections offerings...

Nice choice - I'd count Astral Projection as much less commercial Goa / Psytrance but still a great shout. I'm not hugely familiar with this genre so would be interested to hear some other recommendations in a similar vein. Did you take a look at the Paradise Connection link posted earlier? I suspect you might find them quite agreeable

Cheers - always felt MoS was a bit commercial for my tastes, but have found some good tunes on some of their CDs so will definitely given those a look.

Not at all familiar with the last offering, but "tape pack" sounds like they might be worth a listen!

I misspent many an hour (and pounds!) in my 'yoof' browsing tape packs in the local record shops. There was quite the competition between me and a couple of friends as to who could buy the latest one first.

I think that last track samples one of Mrs SD's favourite tracks (Technohead - I wanna be a hippy). To which she dances quite madly.

Not sure Sun Electric qualify? Been around since 1990 but I went on a binge of their albums last summer.
