Here in sunny Walthamstow we have had the superped for pretty much as long as I have lived here. Side road junctions are almost like shared space, and it actually works quite well mostly. This is generally because the number of pedestrians on the main roads exceeds the traffic trying to turn and so the numbers dictate priority. I am hugely encouraged to see plans on reworking side road junctions that actually make this arrangement a bit more formal with "Copenhagen junctions" Essentially the pavement continues over the side road and the give way signs are pushed back before the pavement crossing, giving pedestrians priority.

The most elegant use of a road has to be the chap who used to roller-blade up and down Hoe Street in a one-piece lycra suit, weaving in and out of traffic with aplomb. At night his suit had little LED lights.

Any news from our friends across the pond on the possible decriminalisation of the jaywalking laws?
The land of the free (as long as you are locked safely away inside a tin can)!

Surely a precondition to the rise and rule of the SuperPed?
