The ticket checkers on our trains often had revenue collectors on them and even when they do not have that on their badge they also issue penalty charges.

One on my old route (from the other direction on the same line as my current route) there was one guy when I travelled who used to only smile and grin when he was administering one of those penalty fines of £100. The recipient pays it online later. If they don't they get tracked down by another department who investigate it with powers from what he told me. Then the recipient gets a £1500 fine!!

I had a chat with the guy once. He was so funny but with a grin he explained that they know how to trace the people who give him a false details, sooner or later they catcch them. It was after the guy he gave the penalty to walked off angrily after he had given a false name and address.Tjhought he had got away with it. I actually liked that guy as he nailed all equally. Others would let off the little old lady who never gets a ticket or the middle class / middle manager who always travelled without a ticket, but always catch the guy in the workwear off to do his shift. Everyone who travels without paying raises the ticket price for those who do. So I am always grinning with that guy when he nails someone!!

I am very used to the Brompton knee jerkers. I do not lock my bike up. I just lean it against the wall. They are forever telling me it will get stolen. But they cannot tell me when. 5 years later, I still have it.

When I tell them its just a bike. You would think I had peed on them. 😁😁

Last summer, I used my Brompton to visit my local pub and sat at a table outside with The Don folded and stood it beside the table. At least three people thought it was a folded up wheelchair.
