Saw it yesterday - It's just a normal bright "star" with a very dim "star" just above it.
It's only really worth seeing with a decent telescope - Jupiter and Saturn in the same view would be pretty cool (too wet and cloudy here).

As ever, the media have hyped it all up and primed people for disappointment.

I've been enjoying the memes on FB... one claims the last time this happened was when Galileo was alive, another claims it hasn't happened since the dark ages. The festive one claims the last time it happened it was called 'the star of bethlehem'.... so we've got around 500 years ago, between 1500 and 500 years ago, and around 2000 years ago... and it won't happen again for 60 years!

According the R4, it happens every 20 years or so. We need some consistency!

It's been too cloudy here, but have the telescope ready in case we get some clear skies today or tomorrow. Watched Jupiter's moons over a week or so last month. Children enjoyed seeing the positions change overnight, but they are just dots of light in our cheapo telescope.

I need to drag the telescope out of the loft when I get a chance, although IIRC it does need fixing.

We saw it this evening!
We were driving back from my daughter's and just happened to see a bright star with a faint one next to it. When I got home I had a look at them with my binoculars and managed to pick out an oblong shape which I assume was Saturn . No sign of the moon's of Jupiter .

Looked out tonight while walking and Jupiter is very clear, I'd be sure its moons are clearly visible with a scope. Saturn slightly to the right.
It's all too low to get my scope on, houses in the way, shame but Its all been visible for a month or so now albeit not in conjunction.
