Did you use the Brittania inn (gone very posh over the last few years) in Llanmadoc at the fork in the road as you climb the hill, or make your way over to the Kings Head in Llangennith (which isn't so much) ?

Didn't get the chance to go in (to the Britannia) but some of the others did and said it was very nice - I saw through the window as we went past lots of posh dining tables and restauranty stuff.

I was born in Swansea and lived at West Cross above the Mumbles- I learned to ride my first bicycle there! Moved away by parents when my Dad got promoted, and miss the Gower coastline to this day .

Went back a few years ago and stayed in B &B near Morriston, my Dad was quite amused when I reported I'd found a lovely boozer off the beaten track.. he used to use it when he worked at DVLC as it was then known. He helped set up the very first DVLC computer system and says Government IT was a joke even in those days!

Have just been there for my hols. Have to say it's a beautiful place with lovely beaches. Anyone else been there?

I also live in the "ugly lovely town" as Dylan Thomas called it. And the Gower is a fantastic place to visit, wether it's for the beaches or the roads.

You'll find me at some point in the week out on the Gower somewhere on the bike.

Some big hills in the Gower theclaud

There are indeed some Hills of Doom. The doomiest, in my opinion, are the one that goes from near Penclawdd (on the North Gower) to Three Crosses and the windswept one that goes from Cilibion up to The King Arthur in Reynoldston. Both very nice to ride down, mind. Obviously I will ignore the speculation about thighs, but it goes without saying that although I certainly go up a lot of hills, I don't necessarily go up them very fast...

This is the particular hill I was thinking about as well as coming off the moor towards Sketty/Killay. Not that hot on the names of them, but know the roads by memory on the north side

Uncle owns a farm in Llanmadoc, I spent many summers holidaying with them as a child, and usually go back every couple of years (delivered a horse down there for my cousin last January, Looks a bit different at that time of year though)

We stay at the campsite at Llanmadoc ... usually once a year, haven't been this year, and the way the weather is going we may not get down there before it shuts.
