99p a pint in Wetherspoons!! 🍻
ancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/19675534.wetherspoons-slashing-several-drink-prices-99p-across-england---see/
yep I noticed that - though not a govt measure of course - only on ruddles - which i find a tad insipid/weak but it's a perfectly decent pint and I am old enough to remember when, amidst so much fizzy crappery, it was rather celebrated. I was going to post it in the thread i started on beer as fuel. A good cycling beer - not too strong.
see you in the commercial?

I must admit to not even looking at the budget news until at least the next day when at least some less knee-jerk reactions are available from Left or Right.

The results will happen, and affect me or not, whether I read them today, tomorrow, or never.
It's all anybody can do, the media will work out where the population will be worse or better off, we just suck it up & move on

you have a conspiracy theory on that accy?

(I seem to recall that you drink)
I do drink, but 99% of my consumption is at home, not in a public house. Conspiracy theory wise, i'd say the government is/are making beer cheaper to attract more customers into pubs. More customers means more interaction. More social interaction means more "pubs are spreading Covid"! Which will end in ANOTHER lockdown!!! Another lockdown means more NWO totalitarianism!!!!!!!!!🧐

NWO?
Drinking at home strikes me as a bad idea if done more than minimally accy for all sorts of reasons.
Don't take personally but I get the feeling you aren't mega fussy about your beer - I'd get out for a November social fest for 99p a go.

NWO, I think refers to New World Order- You will own nothing and you will be happy, some people think we are being dragged into this, but not a subject for here at all.

If it's like gnats pee as you indicate, it could be 50p a pint, but i won't be buying it!!:okay: The Broadway in Accy sells cheap beer and it's always busy.🧐

ruddles is perfectly decent. i wouldn't go out of my way for it - but i have defaulted to it (or guinness) a few times when nothing else was on that was to my taste.

might check out the Broadway when next in those parts - dare I ask what you drink in there pre or post budget/armageddon/NWO?

I don't go in the place. I just peer through the windows.

Edit....Correction as i thought you meant The Commercial. No, i wouldn't go in the Broadway as it looks a bit of a rough hole! Imagine how they'd react to my tweeds and silver tipped walking cane!! 🧐 I just see them sat outside drinking some days...even as early as 10am!! One of those who lives in the sheltered accommodation across from my flat goes in. He's the one who told me about how cheap it is in there.

The cycling fund they talk about it a fudge, it's basically the promised fund with a bit on top that they mentioned a few years ago but have done jack all with so far.
So the usual smoke and mirrors when it comes to active travel funding.
