My bike sits on a stand behind the computer. Just been updating Cyclogs with todays effort when I heard an explosion; sounded like a gun going off. Got my heart rate jumping for a few seconds, then I realised it had come from the bike. Back tyre of the Tricross flat as a pancake. I had only just got home about half an hour previously. Thought it might have been the valve coming away from the tube..............
On closer inspection, there was a cut in the sidewall of the tyre, which must have happened while I was out. Luckily it decided not to allow the inner tube containing 90 psi of air to force it's way out of the sidewall until after I got home . The tyre is a Specialized Nimbus Armadillo, and this is it's first (and final!) puncture in about 1000 miles of use. Another £25 donation to my nearest stockist of Specialized tyres; and let's not forget an extra few £££ for a tube.
