Pulling through
I'm talking about oils, lubrications and other preperations. Today it felt like Travis Bickle's prophecy come true as all the scum washed off the streets and ended up all over my new bike.

I know it hasn't rained for a while and there's a lot of cars and lorries use these roads but what is that stuff? The wheels were dirtier than a secret stash of illuminated manuscript at a mediaeval monastry. It took me a good five minutes rubbing and half a roll of bog paper before my rims were nice and clean.

So I gave the chain a good old 'clean, oil and clean' and threw a rag around the frame and other bits to remove the black and gritty grime but is there anywhere else I should be paying more attention with lubrication, polish and creams to preserve the good looks and functionality of my ride? Tell me where to stick it, please.

My tip... put the chain lube on the top of the lower run of the chain..that way the lube soaks out the chain and doesn't drag the dirt in to it.
