I think the title of this thread is right. The technology is scary if it puts your head somewhere other then where it should be.

Rather than using multiple images from one camera would a bank of cameras with different, but slightly overlapping, points of view and a simultaneous shutter release work better at eliminating the stitching glitches?
As Crackle points out, multi-megapixel cameras aren't that expensive now.
