Well that was a lot harder than a velodrome session. I think its safe to say that this years NC is tougher than last years.
Glad it wasn't just me.

I was struggling from about 12km and soon got used to waving goodbye to everyone as they passed me. I made decreasing efforts to jump on and get a tow. Nearly stayed with @perswe and @Aleman, which I think think pretty much finished me off. By the time @BILL S passed me all I could raise was a grin!

I was quite impressed with the tight formation of the NC squad as they passed me and disappeared up the road.

@TurboTommy was behind me, but I'm guessing that was down to the last throes of his burning turbo! He was 2 minutes 30 seconds behind me, left the simulator and then reappeared just behind me. He overtook me, came to a complete halt, then overtook me again, before reversing into me several times before completely disappearing. If you can repeat this, then that could be a useful tactic in the NC - could completely throw the other teams!

I got within about 2 minutes 30 seconds of @Goldwolfie but then decided the best option was to collapse into a sweaty heap and crawl over the line and look forward to a generous increase in handicap from @gbrown next week!:bravo:

I'm not sure but I think I might have messed up at the start and may have started early (or late?). I made it home just in time from my son's soccer practice and only just managed to enter (re-enter after a freeze). Thanks @Aleman (and later on also @bert1971 and was it @Merida reacto 4000 and @Goldwolfie also) for the drafting experience . It is a bit difficult to get it right, but we managed pretty well I think.

I felt super strong the first half (I think it might have been the adrenaline rush from trying to make it in time). The second half, not so super strong. Tried to follow the train. Managed for about 2 seconds. Then I felt mostly humbled. :notworthy:

@perswe @Aleman thanks for the tug along for the last few miles. My first real go and riding with people. Makes all the difference. @Merida reacto 4000 @Goldwolfie thanks we gave it a good go. Seems your better at a steady pace than me.
Thanks guys so much more enjoyable in a group.

This is why the TTT handicap is such fun. The group has to stay together and work together . Needs a flat course though for good drafting.

Tommy, have I got this right? The pro overheats and self destructs when producing accurate power?!?

Seriously, sorry to hear that. Hope it’s resolvable and you get to compete mate:okay:

Correction.
Tommy overheated whilst having to produce power in BKool and now wants to go back to Zwift with all his 'slow' friends! (as in football friends!).

I’ve done a short effort in the velodrome a little while ago. It’s not looking good at the moment. The burning smell’s gone, but the resistance is still up and down. The highlight was real power 150w vs BKOOL 7w for several seconds.

I’m mindful that I’ve had turbo problems in the past that have worked themselves out. I’ll open up the turbo tonight to see if it’s something obvious (if it is a cat stuck in the turbo that would be a bonus!).

Bert it’s a very kind offer mate but logistically it might be very difficult as I’m not home much this week and my family have deserted me for some half term sunshine.

There is some truth to that. In that I’m reaching the end of the line with BKOOL. Zwift is reliable. BKOOL is like putting your hand into a lucky dip, knowing there’s a good chance someone has just taken a giant dump in the box!

On the plus side, I obviously got everyones lost watts tonight! No way I could have kept that pace normally.

Here they are...
