Yes, it does look good.

Then there's the Elite directo-cheaper than all the direct drives AND its an Elite with a built in bsim advantage! Whats not to like ?^_^

I'd have to get the elite past the cyclechat ethics committee first!

I think it would probably come down to a choice between neo and atom. Atom might be easier to get past the missus as she might use it too. Neo cheaper and very quiet which is a big factor as I want a dedicated space for it and that's not possible with the pro. Having it at the top of the house sent vibrations to the ground floor.

Sorry to hijack the thread. But the camera slog is paying off. New bike and trip starts on Thursday.
It looks like a bear smashed your living room and accidentally put together a really nice looking bike with the debris.

I'boro
I am looking at a giant as well !
Only want a winter/ light tourer and been looking at the contend sl1 disc
Only thing is I have never had disc brakes - if I was somewhere remote and for some reason they either jammed on or broke in some other way - are they roadside repairable ?

I've not seen that colour before - I like it more than the yellow one! Is that the 2018 colour scheme for the TCR Advanced Disc 1?

Me too and yes. £3k though for much the same build whereas i can get the neon yellow for £1500. I got my son the yellow giant Espoir and it does look fantastic.

I am not sure if i have ever read of a disc failing. They must do. Perhaps look at trail repairs at the MBUK website or single track website?

I think it unlikely you'll have a problem. I've used hydraulic disc brakes on my MTB for years and never had a problem out on the trails - and the MTB brakes get a whole lot more abuse than the road bike ever will. The only issue I've ever had is they occasionally may need bleeding if air gets in and they go a bit spongy. You can usually get away with this for a while by "pumping" the brake lever and then get it sorted when you return to civilization though.

Ah I see that on the Giant website now - so they've brought in another model in the "Advanced Pro" spec with mechanical ultegra rather than Di2 (I always though that was a weird omission when I was looking at them). So your extra cash would be going on a higher grade carbon frame and fork, plus better wheels? Always tricky knowing how much different those things will make to you and whether it's worth the extra £££s!

Yes, I am not sure i would notice the difference in carbon layup. I have Hunt tubeless wheels i can swap over and would look to get some of the light weight 50mm rim depth Hunt wheels or climbing wheels in the spring. It still works out cheaper than buying the new model even with pre fitted 28mm scwalbe pro 1's . In the meantime i get to have a fantastically reviewed bike on great wheels at a sub 8k and weight that can only go down in the spring. The neon yellow is not as classy a look as i would ideally want for what will be my best bike but i do quite like it and I would hope there is less risk of smidsy on our roads and highways ^_^ Also, i know that a handmade steel frame with Etap or equivalent is my dream and hopefully only a couple of years away. I should buy sensibly in the interim!

I've arranged for bkool to ring me tomorrow to try and work out what's going on. I think some of you guys have been through this process before. I'm just wondering how punctual they were. I don't really have much time at the moment
