Completed SC10 today and I agree with Froomy i.e. don't go out too hard in the first half.
I did and all I could pretty much do on the longer downhill is go with the hill and recover.
I was actually bowing a bit by 11 km and having to take rests where I could.
Finished in 56:38 in the end, only good enough for 11th which is a bit below par for me.
Interested to see where that puts me overall now and how well Jacob does.
I still feel that I have an underlying problem that is sucking some of the life out of me despite 56:38 being totally respectable.
I started off so well attacking all of the crests and hence setting me up for a speedy descent but by 11 km that little bit extra was gone and it was back to mathematical riding, i.e. any big exertion to go over 50 kph is 'exponential' based on the fact that drag is proportional to your velocity squared hence saving your efforts for the climbs and flats will have a larger impact on your speed (or should have).
Exactly, that's my problem too - I couldn't have said it (better) myself.
Maybe you're feeling the effects of the Bkool update and it hurting a little more. It certainly is with me.
As you know I re-set my expectations after the latest update and now look forward to beige mediocrity.
