Let's just say I have friends from all walks of life ,although I'm not always up to date with the lingo.

A gay friend of ours said she was going on a night out but everyone had to have a beard with them. I genuinely asssumed she meant everyone had to wear a fake beard. Which I thought a little odd but who am I to judge! The missus filled me in later that beard has more than one meaning

Completed SC10 today and I agree with Froomy i.e. don't go out too hard in the first half.
I did and all I could pretty much do on the longer downhill is go with the hill and recover.
I was actually bowing a bit by 11 km and having to take rests where I could.
Finished in 56:38 in the end, only good enough for 11th which is a bit below par for me.
Interested to see where that puts me overall now and how well Jacob does.
I still feel that I have an underlying problem that is sucking some of the life out of me despite 56:38 being totally respectable.
I started off so well attacking all of the crests and hence setting me up for a speedy descent but by 11 km that little bit extra was gone and it was back to mathematical riding, i.e. any big exertion to go over 50 kph is 'exponential' based on the fact that drag is proportional to your velocity squared hence saving your efforts for the climbs and flats will have a larger impact on your speed (or should have).

I haven't ridden hard since my stage 9 attempt on the 31st where things felt similar and I was only three minutes down on Jacob.
I'll have to see how he does on this ride.

I have noticed that my back tyre is going, a chunk of tread has already come away, only a few square mm but in an area that saw my tread start pealing away on my other Vittoria Rubino Pro Graphene.

Well Froomy was going for green as well, that was made pretty obvious today.

1. GBR FROOME Chris 21 TEAM SKY 158 pts
2. ITA TRENTIN Matteo 19 QUICK - STEP FLOORS 156 pts
3. ITA NIBALI Vincenzo 151 BAHRAIN - MERIDA 128 pts

His 11th place in the sprint gave him Green as well !!!!!
Yes, it certainly livened up the last stage! If they cared that much, it's hard to understand why they let Pouls finish second yesterday, four more points would have sealed the green jersey.

I think they were just having fun, thinking why not? Don't give them it, make a race of it. Quite impressive sprinting from Froome.

Here is what I'm seeing today. My last two days of hauling my wife's camera gear to "pay" IMG_3920.JPG for my bike trip. Is that you Turbo Tommy?

unless you are using a superduper long lens , that is FAR too close to get to a bear - of any sort !
brilliant scenery though , i guess its just water mountains and trees forever?

I told you guys already I'm an Otter not a Bear dammit!

Nice photo though Randy. In fact could you post up the link again for your wife's site? I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures.

Out again yesterday, got to usual Cafe half way round and found it closed all week, so just had to finish without cake top up, and weather turned a bit nasty as we climbed into mist, drizzle and strong winds. Coming down a 15% windy decline in the wet with carbon rim brakes was not fun!

Yet another amusing run in with a car driver, on a long straight two lane road, drafting a riding buddy well to the left, an old guy in a little red car decided not to overtake us on the wide road, but wait until the narrow one lane humped back bridge over a canal. I kind of expected him to come past there, but he didn't expect the car coming the other way, so he accelerated into the bridge alongside us, then tried to pull left into us as he met the oncoming car who had already reached the middle of the bridge. My buddy got rather upset at nearly being dumped into the canal, but we were able to continue cycling past the oncoming car, leaving them to sort out who backed up for whom!

A minute later the red car overtook us on the wide road, slowed to swear loudly at each of us and gestured that we liked to play with ourselves! Not sure how we had any affect on the two oncoming cars getting in each others way on a single lane bridge, but he naturally blamed us for his appalling driving!

When my friend responded in kind, the driver looked like he was going to stop, but thought better of it, probably because we outnumbered him. Shame as I was looking forward to his justification for blaming us, but since it would have been an exercise in futility trying to point out the error of his ways, probably best that we saved our breath for the 3 mile climb just up the road!

Perhaps Bkool should add random attacks from car drivers to their simulator, to go with the pointless rain and darkness features?
