That's an extremely unhelpful suggestion Tommy because it means I don't get to bring something nice new and shiny to IoW, just my blooming commuter and heavy wheels.
It doesn't matter that you are right. All you have done is demonstrate the brashness of youth ^_^

^_^

It did occur to me you might want something nice and shiny ASAP. I did just had a very quick look at bike hire in London. Thinking you might do that for IOW. Seems expensive relative to value but I didn't look that hard.

Alternatively take a tape measure to the defy. Get the canyon size chart and compare the stats.

i have never been one for watching a lot of cycling on the telly and i could always take or leave the tdf but must admit i have enjoyed watching them all play in the mountains - although it seemed like froome was uncatchable there was so much else going on that kept me interested
brings it home to you just how fit they are to do that every day

only 1 tho
get and do that stage again work out the time difference then do last Thursday stage at ur proper pace but start the few minutes behind that u made up on the power switch trial cos I think its only made a few minutes difference and if anyone deserves a top 20 its u don't be disheartened go for it you've worked hard to get where u r
Unfortunately @theboxers has tempted me to do the Velta climb from yesterday's stage. Set up on Bkool to be attempted this afternoon. Not done a good hill for ages so could be a nice challenge

Thankfully I ride for fun and getting myself fit so really where I come in the leagues is just an added bonus but not the ultimate aim. I think it's funny, and quite sad, that the Danes are so obsessed with our times and want to try and beat us all the time when all we're doing is riding for pleasure :becool: I just misjudged how seriously some people take these online races (I'm also connected to some Zwift FB pages and there are peeps on there just as obsessed and serious so it's not just BKool). Life is too short, with too many people in the world with far bigger problems than we will ever experience, to take these online race games so seriously :okay:

Well said Geoff. The vueltas been ace from what I've seen of it.

I agree about Froome on the whole. He's an out and out competitor so you can ask much more of him. It did wind me up the way he made a point of showing his displeasure at having to keep waiting for Wiggins. I think that's partly why I think he's a bit of a d!ck. But you can't fault his ability.
I think he's matured since then. We also have to try and remember that he's a professional sportsman who gets stick from a lot of people (apart from the press, the public are not unknown to spit and throw p1ss at him) so it must be quite frustrating for him sometimes. He does seem to have mellowed a bit though, and I'd say he's had some PR training as his interviews now are warmer. He is a monster cyclist with team mates who could probably all lead teams in their own right if given the chance.

This Velta was superb. Shame Contador didn't get on the podium in the end but to be fair, he didn't seem to bothered himself. For him, winning yesterday seemed to be the perfect send off to his grand tour career.

has anyone heard from/ seen Adam lately ?
i know he was stupidly busy with work - miss his brand of sarcasm
we all have a pinch ( some more than ottthers ) :okay: but it flowed from Adam
most amusing:laugh:
Not been back on line since Wales. He did say he would try and cycle more, but looks like his business is still taking all his time. Shame, he is such a great guy :okay: Hopefully he will be back as we go into Winter.

I concur, you can beat me anytime be it fairly or unfairly it's not that important.
It's more about getting fitter with some healthy competion and having fun with some banter mixed in.
The real test on ability is out there in the real world.
I did a sportive yesterday and so many people passed me on the long hills that the hill rides on Bkool recently are actually more like the real thing.:surrender:

Any tips on hill climbing except the loosing body weight which I'm now determined to do and having lighter wheels which I do need to have.

Yeah miss Adam. The banter and the competition too. Just when I had half a chance against him the bugger went on extended leave! I've thought about texting him to try and goad him a bit, but hopefully he gets back in the routine at some point. Soarer too! Both great guys.

We've lost quite a few good guys over the past year. @Monte and @Insomina cam be added to the list of riders we miss. Shame @JLaw went across to the darkside too
