Just been on the Canyon website to check out the prices of their bikes as quite like the look of @bridgy 's new steed.:eek::eek: Erm, I think I'll be sticking with my Halfords Boardman for now
This is a terrible site for creating bike envy. I really didn't need a new bike but after looking at everyone else's sweet new rides I talked myself into it. I strongly think Kipster is in the pay of "big bicycle" mfgs.

@bobinski I am 5 foot 10" or 5' 11" - depending on the day! My Giant Defy was a M/L size which I was properly bike-fitted for.

When I put my measurements into the Canyon website it suggested a small, but looking at the geometry that just didn't seem right so I went for a medium - which feels perfect ct so far.

I very nearly went for that Aeroad myself - think they look great - but in the end decided the Ultimate would probably be more comfortable and versatile for the majority of rides I do - so far, very happy the decision!

Ta Paul,
I do have short legs, 29 1/2 ( on a good day!)
I could cope with an Ultimate ^_^ just been looking at this below which is about the price of a purple caad 12 frame once I add seat post, stem and bars. I can transfer my ultrega bits over...

Sorry Bob I should have said my inseam is about 32 inches. If I was borderline small /medium I guess you would probably be a small. Have you put your measurements into the Canyon website to see what it suggests?

Not sure why Froome attacked the last few km, Nibali was already trailing so effectively it cost Contador a podium place.

Agreed. I don't have a lot of time for Froom and this, whether done knowingly or not, has made it even harder for me to like him.

From where I was watching, Froome had nothing to do with where Nibali or Zakarin finished, and hence did not affect Contador's classification. He didn't tow either of them, in fact breaking away from them probably made it harder for them. They raced as fast as they could without his help, Nibali to keep his second place and Zakarin to gain enough time on Kelderman to move to third.

And Froome was happy to trundle in behind Pouls, even though it could conceivably cost him the green jersey, as he could of got a few more points by finishing second, if he had asked Pouls to finish behind him. I guess he thought Pouls deserved the higher finish, he was focused on the GC and had got what the team all came to win.

It is a race after all, but I expect in the end he was happy to take the GC and leave Berty the stage win!

Knowing that Froome followed team orders in the 2011 Vuelta and 2012 TdF and worked for Wiggins, coming second in both when he could have gone quicker in both if he had not agreed to stick with Wiggins as long as he did. Everyone talks about how well Pouls and Nieve did as domestiques to Froome, but Froome finished second in the 2012 TdF, behind the man he towed up the hills! I don't see how anyone can doubt he is a team player, as much as any out and out racer can be!

Even though he led from stage 3, the 2017 Vuelta was very entertaining and much more interesting than the TdF!

And the Tour of Britain has been woeful, 5 almost identical bunch sprints and a short TT, separated by a few seconds. Could they not find some kind of hill to separate them?

The tours are over, the weather is rubbish and the long sleeved jersey is out again, how short is summer?

These things are all relative I suppose. Although to be fair boardmans have a really good reputation.
Unlike their riders who now have a bad reputation on here

Bob why not wait until IOW and sit on Paul's bike? Seems ideal unless canyon are having a sale right now and you want to pull the trigger.

That's an extremely unhelpful suggestion Tommy because it means I don't get to bring something nice new and shiny to IoW, just my blooming commuter and heavy wheels.
It doesn't matter that you are right. All you have done is demonstrate the brashness of youth ^_^

Paul, I have not but will. I have a longish upper torso, longish arms too but the mobility of a 54y old so I have to be very careful about fit. The bike fit guy at Cadence says that for my height I can take a slightly longer too tube and unusually a slightly shorter than standard stem rather than other way around. Most endurance frames have shorter tt's hence push for a more racey frame. He also wants me to work on my upper body mobility and core- but I suspect we could all do with that.

Well said Geoff. The vueltas been ace from what I've seen of it.

I agree about Froome on the whole. He's an out and out competitor so you can ask much more of him. It did wind me up the way he made a point of showing his displeasure at having to keep waiting for Wiggins. I think that's partly why I think he's a bit of a d!ck. But you can't fault his ability.
