Not looking as I trust you but I bet they are massive downhill!
I'm extremely insulted now 🤣

Thanks. I’ll put them in the bowl of stages to choose from.

I try to aim for non-downhill routes that can be done in about 30-40 minutes max as not to skew the league too much if someone misses the draft-train and also that the slower riders can get it done within an hour solo.
Climbs are difficult in that sense as they have to be rather short or not too steep as not to make the huge time gaps between Craig and the rest of us. He might loose some minutes on the pure downhill, but he can easily claw these back uphill.

I like the fact that you and @Goldwolfie have a chance of winning a (downhill) stage due to your weight, and the same for @Barbes66 to win the hillier ones. Some times @Rod McG is close to winning too, as he is smack in the middle weightwise, climbs well, and hangs on on the flat and downhill. It is just the likes of @shimceltic and me that rarely wins, but tries to hang on and maybe disrupt/aid the rest. At least we sometimes get to sprint for secondary placings.

Not entirely true. I do notice I can go downhill some faster, but the time won during downhill is totally lost going uphill. It seems almost everybody can go downhill quite fast, regardless of weight, but uphill is a decision maker...

Gravity works both ways. I can assure you that you travel faster downhill than Craig with the same effort (wkg). I am sure the same applies when climbing.

Yes every one can go downhill “quite fast”, but still, the lightweight WILL most likely loose. In the real world maybe not, as out there your riding skills/technique can make up for low weight. In the virtual world with no corners, hairpins etc. to take into account, gravity wins.

When you look at @Goldwolfie‘s numbers, he is going like 2.5wkg max when leading the downhill pack, and the rest of us have to do like 3-3.5wkg just to hang onto his wheel.

I think it would be fun to have a couple of pure downhill / climbing races, where we switched weight, so the heaviest got the lightest’ weight. It would be an interesting experiment. :okay:

The downhill algorithm has definitely changed as I used to be able to draft with wolfie and microkid. Now microkid just flies past and is gone! But keeping the climbing stage short and not too steep shouldn't allow for massive gaps either way.

Well, I can gain 1 minute on the downhill, but I will lose easily 5 minutes on a uphill, so the gains for heavyweight and lightweight are not the same
If you have some nice routes with enough diversity, it will be all right I guess

I think you gained a bit more recently on downhill but the up hill is obviously a struggle. Hard to get the balance.

Fair enough with that ride but I think another you flew past never to be seen again! Must be a novelty having up and down hills virtually compared to where you live!
I have some hills here, but nothing more than 5-6% and nothing more than approx 1km. The Netherlands is kinda flat, you know ;) In real life, I try to ride some hills here in the area where I live, but for real climbs I have to go to the southern part of NL (Limburg) where you can find climbs up to 17% for a few hundred meters...

I found the downhill easier on the Pro as my bodyweight would put sufficient pressure on the roller to get some resistance and thus watts when pedalling. The virtual flywheel on the NEOs gives almost no resistance and therefore it is hard for me to do the watts downhill I did on the Bkool Pro. Maybe a KICKR (Core) feels different, as it actually has a physical flywheel with some weight you have to spin around?

That could be it then, when I was using the Bkool wheel on trainer and while spinning push a broom onto the ceiling in the garage, thus forcing me down into the saddle with more weight! Maybe I'll get some helium balloons for the climbing stages to catch Craig!
