I have a Quarq RikenR powermeter which is worked very well so far and it's not too difficult to swap the bike with that but pedals are more easier, no doubt about it. Shane Miller seems to like Powertap pedals and keep them some kind of reference when he compare other power meters and trainers. Vectors gives more details if you have Garmin's computer especially for pedaling.

You can use the overtime money to buy a 42 mm tire and inflate it to 8 psi for Saturdays race. Maybe something with lots of tread.

Sad thing is that Im on a Salary. Just doing it to catch up post my holiday for the good of the company.

Bit pricey for me. Only have 300 quid. Current pedals are SPD so if got pedal based power I'd need new shoes too. Plus only recently bought pedals for SS bike.
@Whorty
You need to post a pic of your bottom Bracket and crank length. If the BB is an english thread type then

I've had a look around and this seems to be the best route

I'm not sure of the longevity/accuracy of 4iiii pm's but they seem to be ok.

with this

or this

and finally this

A bit more expensive £350-360.

Again you need to check crank length and BB type before ordering though.

Edit to add

DCR's Power Meter guide is due soon.

Here is last years

@Whorty I've a Shimano 175mm Ultegra. Stages PM for sale £225
To answer you and TB's question ... the Boardman currently has an FSA crank and the spec if 175mm. I believe the BB is a BB30 (against based on the spec. I've seen on line that Stages do the PMs for each type (e.g. SRAM, Shimano, FSA) so I assume I have to get an FSA crank. So based on my very vague guesswork/logic I'm not sure your PM would fit my bike unless I also replace the front cogs (& BB?) too.

Does this seem logical?

Edit : do you not use these any more? What do you use instead?

@Whorty I think you may need to get your bb type checked. When I copied the crankset details from the spec sheet Google brought up a square taper design. No pm's I could find would go on them.

Gents. Not looking good for me making it to the rerun at 5.
Went for a spin with the Mrs today with her trike and now that I converted it to a twist grip she had power on tap and went too quick into an off camber roundabout. Well the trike went up on two wheels and threw her off with quite a rough landing. Helmet saved her but we're in A&E now waiting for the Xray results. Fortunately I haven't been blamed yet so I'm keeping my mouth shut.
Someone else please start the ride and if I can get home in time I'll join.
