After 2 calls to Apple support either side of a pointless response from Bkool I may have recovered my MacBook after it was assaulted by the Bkool Sim beta.

I uninstalled the Beta and the install helper after my MacBook went into a series of crashes and restarts. I sent as much detail as I could to Bkool and told them that I'd uninstalled the Beta. They asked me to click on settings and send some additional information to them!! Idiots!!!!
Well I hadn't recovered it.

2nd call to Apple support this morning resulted in deleting a number of files in cache and other folders. It may have worked this time, but I'm booked in for an Apple store appointment in Brighton on Thursday just to check out that everything is running ok.

Needless to say, any software containing the words Bkool and Beta will be going nowhere near my MacBook from here on.

Never heard of Bkool making a PC FUBAR - just saying… :becool:

Haven't used my Pro since July 8th, only the Direto (and only 11 rides in total, most of them on Zwift).

I THINK BSIM works better with the Direto in the beta, but a side by side comparison would be necessary. Currently I'm so slow, that I can't compare my Direto BSIM rides to previous Bkool BSIM rides. And with the heat these days/weeks/months, I would be slow on the Pro as well...
Be interesting to see you do the same course now but no both trainers. A lumpy course but not hilly, as the problem was that non-Bkool trainers didn't get the same momentum into lumps that the Pro gets. I don't think you'd need to go too hard to test this, maybe try to ave 200-210 watts throughout the ride should give pretty good results.

I found/find with the Kickr that it's not that the BSIM doesn't recognise it, or doesn't show the correct watts (I've ridden with the wahoo app on and see same watts in BSIM as I see in Wahoo), it's that the software doesn't set the same speeds for the same trainers even though watts are similar. This is most clearly seen when going from say 0% to anything above 0% ... the Pros fly into these but the Wahoo slams it's breaks on! This is what Bkool need to fix to cox non-Bkool trainer users back to their platform for racing.

My "recognise" was referring to the fact that it now recognises the exact model, and probably (hopefully) does some adjustments to its calculations based on that.

Why don't you give the beta a try on your Kickr?

I don't have the Pro anymore so can't compare the two. I have a new laptop too (old one died on me) so not going to risk the beta on my new laptop. Like I say, would be interesting the same person comparing two trainers on the same course to see if they actually act the same. But no worries.

No problem running on my Mac Mini. @Del C are you on Sierra? I'm not really a Mac dude it's only used for the bike trainer. The only other program I use on it is xcode. And I haven't used that in the past 6 months.

I'm not really interested in how it works with the Pro, more if you notice any difference on the Kickr compared to the non-beta. You can have them both installed, as the beta installs in another folder.

EDIT: They have just released beta version 4.01.

Do you need an active bkool account to test the beta? I canned mine a while back but would be happy to try the kickr snap with it, but I won't be paying money to them to test.

think i still have an account @ £1/ month - how would i go about getting beta ? would test a neo on it
would go up alpe d'huez
i have times on a classic , pro and in brvr, neo
dont want to do alpe d'huez on neo in normal bkool as it would be demoralising
