I have a 19 year old daughter who has dyed her hair, shaved it to a number 1 down one side, and is dating a guitarist in a band. She’s on a gap year and having an absolute ball. In contrast I’m more familiar with the jingles from kids tv shows than any current music. And me and the missus seem to be having a conversation on permanent loop... it’s about a carpet that needs replacing... Whenever I think I’ve escaped it, another permutation raises its ugly head... at this point I’d settle for sawdust loosely sprinkled on the floor and the missus rolled up in the old carpet, ready for a buoyancy test :cursing:! Anyways...

I think it’s fair to say I’m somewhat lagging behind in the cool stakes in my household, but I do feel better for this mini rant!

And I do love new bike day!!!
On your ride today you mentioned listening to music and I thought you were listening to Vampire Weekend's A-punk but now learning it was probably The Wheels on the Bus......

It was mostly ‘soul II soul club classics volume 1’ today Randy. You ever hear of them? I don’t think they made much of an impact in the American billboard chart. At least not the impact their quite pioneering sound deserved. I think it was the first album I ever bought. That or ‘de la soul’s three feet high and rising’. I used to be quite into hip hop when those albums were released. I don’t listen to it nearly as much now, although it still has a place for me. And the slower beats in particular are great for hill climbing.

Sometimes I’ve thought it might be fun to all contribute songs we find motivational to a collective playlist. Could be quite a sound clash!

OMG! I bought that for Kath like so many years ago I can’t remember. How old are you really Tommy?

I think it still stands up pretty well now. Definitely has lots of nostalgia value! I just googled it and it came out in ‘89. So I guess I bought it when I was 10 or 11. The benefit of having an older sibling and older friends to steer me I guess. Although my sister was more into Banarama and Madonna and The Bangles and stuff like that at the time. I think we were both discerning enough to avoid the pitfalls of Bros and The New Kids on The Block!

@theboxers .
The two dudes @berty bassett and @TurboTommy are like the cool guys smoking cigatettes. You know buying a new bike every other week isn't good for you but they sure make it look hip and "with it. "
I just park my new Orbea downtown and lean against it looking casual and I'm pretty sure the babes think, who is that bad boy.

Edit: I left out @kipster who is also a serial bike buyer.
To be fair, the last bike purchase was for my wife, I only have three, she has two, my son has just the one, soon to be two. Once I've had the extension built I might look at another, but I expect that I'll be buying my wife some sort of road ebike in the next couple of years and that would take priority.

Interesting afternoon / evening. I have officiated my brothers 3 daughters, the daughter of his wives brothers partner, the wives cousin and my brother on their first bkool rides. Brother and cousin not too good, 20-25 minutes each and 'let me off'. I have a feeling I'm not going to be popular tomorrow.

His eldest daughter (12) did a circuit of richmond park @my brothers weight setting (over twice her weight) in 45 minutes. Not bad considering.

So that’s your nieces uncle, or fathers brothers, sisters kids? Or both... I mean all three?
