welsh dragon

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Just spent a while downloading free kindle books, then had a shower. I feel human again, thank god. All I need now is a mug of coffee and everything will be wonderful. Hi everyone.

The translation I have for siput sedut is "snails" which is a sea or land creature inside a shell. But fried salted fish would be more like "sardines" in the US.

Do you even eat rice with your hands?

I shy away from using the word 'snails' bcos hereabouts it is automatically associated with tht of the garden variety and considered quite unpalatable xx( here 'salted fish' is usually salted then dried in the sun and is a little crispy when fried, maybe more like dried anchovies (locally known as ikan bilis) than sardines.

Yes we do eat rice & almost everything else with our hands, although noodles would be much easier to handle with either chopsticks or fork

Typical lunch hereabouts.

White rice, grilled chicken breast & vege, a portion of siput sedut (I googled for an English translation and it came out 'cerithidea obtuse), a plate of fried salted fish and a mug of hot lemony water

And yes over here we usually eat with our hands

Reckon the hawker centres are fabulous value. When we were over they were the only places we used to visit. The one in Penang at Batu Ferringghi was probably my favourite, but I also went to the one in KL that is famous (can't remember name) and Singapore.
Such good value for next to nothing and brilliant food. I love the way you go and order from different places and it all just turns up. Brilliant!!!
