I discovered later that I'd left my phone in his room last night and it went off at 0500, and again at 0600, then 0700 this morning...

Entirely due to my usual disorganisation and ability to forget where something is about three seconds after I put it down.
There's no SIM card in the phone: it's an elderly Nokia cell phone which functions purely as my alarm clock.
