He'd just ignore me.
We got a ride in though. Not as long as expected because the pedals on my bike are essentially scrap and started loosening and clicking, but we nursed the bike around and enjoed ourselves nonetheless.

I've done it to one person, who later mentioned they dreamt they were in a sandwich. Hoping no-one would take a bite.
Why not replace the pedals?

I will, now. I took them to bits and re-greased them recently in a desperate attempt to keep them going, but realised when I put them together again that the bearings are visible from the outside, so their days would have been numbered anyway.
