Good morning everyone. Another bitterly cold night, but no more snow thank goodness.

The thaw starts today. About 11 o'clock this morning, in fact. Snow should be all gone by tomorrow evening. I'll finally be able to get out to the builder's merchant.

A rough snow ploughed single track outside to civilisation
Ah, it's all been some fun.

Yesterday afternoon Mrs M asked is there anyone who might need some shopping in our immediate area, I reminded her we are the oldies..
On return, we met a neighbour who said 'I'd have got you to pick up milk for me', 'It's only 15 min walk', ' F that,I'm not going out in that'

Stay warm, stay safe...

Late running, although I'm surprised they're running at all down south.

Yep. The first non-4 wheel drives got through this morning, and I made a trip to town to the builder's merchant. Dicey on the lane still, but do-able. It's melting fairly well now.

Partial pano from 18th tee on the golfie at the back, I waded through some hefty drifts and on the last one, I tried to go to forward, kinda got stuck and just louped forward and went erse over tit

earlier I got to the top of the hill track and came across these, sod it, I'm going back down

Cracking couple of miles covered, fun. Virgin snow the whole way

I did..
I'll head up again tomorrow, I gave up going further due to the dark skies to the east..

The snow is getting a bit wet now. Sign that it is begining to melt.

I'm not putting the crampons and ice axe back into storage just yet. They remain ready for use, along with the boots(which have the crampons attached), waterproofs, survival bag, heat pads and self heating canned food.
