The art on the wall are decals - pita to put up, I call tell you!
The penguin was one we bought him at Edinburgh Zoo, years ago...we had to drag him away from the penguin enclosure, he would have stood there all day!
That might be where mine came from, we went there about twelve years ago, and again last August.

Penguins are the best animals in the zoo.

At the Welsh Mountain Zoo they all walk in a line from their enclosure accross a big lawn at feeding time..

Yes, they do that at Edinburgh too.
We went about 5 years ago, it was his first visit to a zoo and he loved it.
We'd go back more often but it's so expensive for a day out!

I may be a cheapskate but I refuse to take my tykes to 'theme' parks and the like. It's woods, moors, big fields and beaches in all seasons, with me carrying the lunch and first aid kits. You'd be surprised how much wildlife is going on in a hedgerow when you stop and really look at it with them. Not many penguins though, I must admit.

Don't have kids, but agree with finding so much pleasure in the simple things. Local trail I walk my dog along I can usually spot Heron, various breeds of ducks with babies, sadly now grown up, occasional flash of a lovely blue Kingfisher, some nice little Bullfinches yesterday, a mink a few days ago and numerous Buzzards and occasionally Red Kites soaring overhead.

Cycling is a good way to get close to wildlife as the bike doesn't seem to bother them. I always remember seeing a beautiful stag one misty morning standing majestically on the road looking at me before he decided to leap the fence and disappear. Buzzards often remain sitting on fence posts letting you pass within feet of them. One early morning up on Sheriffmuir I swear a crow actually played a game with me. He flew just overhead and a few yards ahead of me and kept looking down at me following him. Went on for about 500 yards before he eventually got fed up and turned off.

Morning all.
I've been up ages and ages (3 teas worth of uppiness in fact) and I'm waiting for Hubster and the hounds to get out of their pit. The Greyhound is spark-out along the bottom off the bed. My Millie-dog is comatose in her basket and I can't see Hubster's little JRT, she must be down the duvet still. I've had a really peaceful 3 hours reading. I'd better think about shaking a leg now though.
