I'm trying to find some notable inventions from South Gloucestershire, but I'm struggling. Allegedly an item described as a 'death ray' was invented here, it didn't bring about much death though.

Classic, did a Yorkshireman invent stuck records? Only thing i can think of from Devon is an entire geological period and a good place to keep an eye on Spanish ships while playing bowls.. oh and Sir Walter of course, I passed him the other day, good at minding flowerpots now.

Oh yes, he was great in that film about the little Indian bloke. Samuel Taylor Coleridge was a son of Ottery St Mary, my nearest town.. and every royal baby since Queen Vics oldest has been christened wearing a Honiton Lace gown (the same one).
