As you say just an excuse to fleece the fans more, why do clubs need 3rd kits? Apart from the commercial side of it there is no reason. The 3rd kit always gets introduced in the year between the 2 year cycle of the 1st and 2nd choice kits, obviously to boost flagging sales.
The next Sky deal wants Friday night games, really think of something like Newcastle or Sunderland fans going to Southampton for a Friday game.
It's a shame the way football has gone.
