Tutoring! God no!! You should hear me murdering Malmsteen I've been playing 1 year, 2 weeks and 1 day and still can't cope with a bit of neo-classical rock. I can knock out a decent F chord but Jiboom is still beyond me. I don't have the speed in my fretting fingers yet. Then again I've some proper nerve damage in my hands so I'm thrilled that I am much better at lead playing than rhythm. Are you going tutoring with Leigh <urge to say Centurions> @Saluki ?
A kinda mate (brother of a mate) of mine got into guitar tutoring this way.
Took a lot of lessons, then exams & eventually worked for his tutor. He now runs his own tutoring business with Piano & drums added/offered too.
He's expanding the business and I am going to manage the office, sort the rotas, liaise with the schools/colleges that he has peripatetic teachers in, invoice, chase payment, herd the other teachers, book lessons, answer the phone, be the guardian of the diary, make sure that he has a lunch break from time to time and generally run his business for him while he teaches or goes off doing session work.
He said that he could do with a secretary and I said that he needed a bored businesswoman who needed a challenge. 2 hours later he had this 'brilliant idea'.
Most of his teachers are either ex pupils or people that he plays with. It's how he finds people that have a passion for guitars and music.
