....my mother's chimney has been leaking some water into the fireplace. I think the pointing and flashings are OK. It's also got a cowl on the top - it's one of those U-shaped (half-cylinder) ones which is open at both ends. How likely is it that the water is caused by rain being driven in to the ends of the cowl and down the chimney?
Is it splashes/ drops of sooty looking water or a damp patch?

If it's spashes/ drops then it must just be the wind direction, if it's damp patches it might just need the pointing checking on the chimney stack, that's if the chimney's on an outside wall... So many questions, so little time!

I made pancakes on Sunday. They were excellently scrumptious, may I say. ^_^ Unfortunately due to a glitch in the tinternet I could not send any to any one, even if there had been any left to send.

I have eight eggs in the fridge, which will make um... err.... enough batter for um....16 large pancakes. That is two for me, and two each for seven other people.....

You could have them with Maple syrup or golden syrup. I have not got very much ice cream though. I can imagine, that Potsy could wrap his pancake around a Magnum if necessary. :giggle:

Arch works late on a Tuesday, so shaIl I start making them after she has had her tea?

* finds kitchen scales, sieve, eggs, flour, salt, sugar * oh dear no lemons!

Please provide your own lemons and coconut or banana or anything weird and wonderful that you wish to have with your pancakes. And we need a volunteer to wash up, Rocky!
