Granville has a strap-on?
:giggle:
Ready brek, then off for a quick 20 miler
Have put a mudflap on, if it's still there when I get back I'll put a picture up

Did the same-ish route as Friday, similar conditions, went thru plenty of mucky puddles etc.
Good news is the flap stayed on
Bad news is I need to get fit
Some pics-

Midway- still there

Will make another for the rear (just to keep Alun happy) and may re-do the front a little longer and with 2 bolts rather than 1, though it seems pretty secure even after a bumpy offroad ride.

Well done, Potsy.

I would put two fixings in, one on each side to make the flap curl around the tyre a bit more.
Also make it wider at the bottom edge then the top.

You could use the corner of a milk carton so that it has a natural V shape to cup over the mudguard better.
Also if you fix it inside the mugguard rather then outside it will look neater.

Just making a guest appearance here to congratulate potsy on taking my advice about that flap! And I agree with Night Train that it could be made to look a lot neater, though it is obviously very effective as it is! Oh, and I'd look for some black plastic to match the colour of the existing mudguards.

Ah, some good tips there NT, will do that on M2.
I followed the other 2 holes that were already there, and carefully made another with a scalpel :ninja:
Was going to trim the top a bit thinner and leave the bottom fatter as it is now (Just like Jo's)
Kept me busy for 30 minutes anyway

All to come in version 2, am on the look out for black plastic, are Pepsi bottles still black? Might have to treat myself to a 2l bottle if they are :mrpig:

Another thing. Make sure that whatever plastic you use isn't too rigid. You wouldn't want to damage the mudguard if you catch it coming off a kerb.
The top edge of a milk carton is thicker and more rigid where as part way down the side it gets noticably thinner and more flexible.

If you want to keep to the existing holes you can use a bit of thicker, stiffer plastic to help spread the load from the bolts and to keep the shape of the flap to the mudguard better.

One last thing:
Jo is going to smack you!

Not that I know of.

Am trying to think of something that comes in black bottles, and struggling a bit. The only thing I can think of, oddly, is one variety of laundry liquid - which is also good as it's not too brittle and, I think, in a flattish sided bottle.

Do you want me to look out for something? I have access to a vast range of plastic bottles, and it would save you buying something specially. I bet I could find something within a week, and could cut out some flat bits and post them....

Alternatively, many food trays are black (and not recyclable so we don't collect them, but them turn up in boxes). They are often a more brittle plastic, but if I see anything suitable, I'll snaffle it.

Although I don't know why, when you've been so rude to Jo.....
