One of mine from a few years back
What did you take that with?
I know my compact digital will probably focus almost that close, but probably wouldn't look as sharp.

@stephec, in a gym, with all those young ladies in gym kit, bouncing up and down on treadmills...with his reputation....*shudders*
I think that was my Canon 350D
Thought about it....they are surrounded by power lines and pylons, theres hardly an angle you can shoot them from without getting something in the shot!
Edited to add I was being lazy...
Or sit indoors with your feet up, nick one of mine and then fib that you were out all day, look at this lovely picture...

On this occasion MrsD was with me, tutting at my now dirty trouser knees as we were going out for lunch 'somewhere nice' afterwards..
How I suffer for my art...
Always little boys eh? getting mucky and dirty.
Hell no! Don't be sorry! Just because I have some qualifications in a subject does not make me an expert!Sorry SL, I know you are much better qualified than me at the art... I just used to talk about it for years, not actually take many myself!
There were so many flowers out when I last saw them that I don't have any pictures of individual blooms, it was difficult to isolate any.
I know it wasn't a macro lens as I didn't have one for that camera....not sure what it would have been...No macro lens or anything special?

Yes...some of my photos were taken on a phone camera or a compact and are (IMO) as good as some I've taken with the bigger kit.If I remember correctly the standard zooms have a sort of pseudo macro function, about 1:4 lifesize I think.
This was the point I was trying to make with one of my blog entries though, when they like the picture non-photographers always ask what you used first, not how you used everything at your disposal including thought process, creativity, time, skill etc, as if the camera and lenses take the pictures.

It's about the interpretation, angles, light etc....without light we don't have a picture!
Such a shame but I can understand that. For me, it's still a pleasure but it's not my job.Oohhh..after nearly 30 years in the trade... the stories I could tell... Only one that matters though, when I started I was a keen photographer. When I finished (five years ago now) I was a bloody good salesman, manager and administrator. I wasn't that interested in photography any more.
