my ideal retiral spot would be a wee remote croft somewhere up the west coast...but I'm stuck looking N out this window next to me..

It can be dam cold even on the west coast. For me It would be mallorca, or somewhere in America, say southern carolina, or california, but just for the winter.

Lots of bug spray. I'd gladly suffer a few bugs for the sun, and the bugs aren't bad in the winter.

I wouldn't go to Cyprus in the Summer - too hot. That's why the plan is for winter only. I've never been bothered by insects of any type there, I'm glad to say.

The North gets bad press but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay...some of the ex-pats were bumpers

We have visited the North a couple of times. Lovely area, lovely people. However, our preference is for the South as there is more there for us to enjoy. It would be nice if the Island re-united but the hatred runs very deep.

Been to Asda, got dog food and a bit more, did a quick scoot around the charity shops then home.
