Thanks Bob. What can I say. Not quite as bad as when I went out for the first time in August, but not good either. To much effort for little gain. I was trying to hard. Stayed away from the lowest gear just in case i needed it for somethng else. Big mistake. Should have taken it slower and more steady. Never mind, at least i got out there thats the main thing. Now i have done it once i can keep doing it .My base layer though was too hot and that didnt help. Weather is beautiful, In fact it is quite warm. There was a head wind on the way back that was quite nice to be honest and helped cool me down a bit. Onwards and upwards.

Low gear? I have no qualms, why 'kill' yourself.
I had my merino 'vest' plus a base layer under my waterproof, a bit damp but enough..

Thanks Bob. I'm really happy I broke the camels back so to speak and yes why shouldnt I use low gear. Exactly.

I am a bit, mainly because I was trying to hard and should have used the lower gear when needed, but I'm also happy that I got out there, so thats a plus. I've recovered now and number 1,3,4,5 grandchildren have just buggered off as well, so peace and quiet returns to the dragon household

Too warm for the fire today. And at the moment I'm so happy that I just got out there that I couldn't sleep even if I wanted to. Just relaxing now.
