I have had 3 huge mugs of tea today, my back is still killing me and my banjaxed wrist is in lots of pain. Would a 4th big mug of tea help, do you think.

Oh dear. I hope that all starts to improve - quickly.
I smashed my wrist about 31/2 years ago and its a rubbish heal. Apparently the only option is to re break and fuse the wrist, which is not happening. I have been decorating the bedroom and bathroom over the last few days and my wrist is letting me know that I really shouldn't have done it. My back is mostly sciatica with a bit of general achiness thrown in for good measure. Happily I have no work until the 2nd Jan and its only dog walking. I don't actually have to make an effort, work wise, for another fortnight  so I can rest and wait for the pain to go away.

All sounds very sore and achy. I hope it eases soon.

Don't blame you on not wanting the wrist rebroken and fused.

The consultant insisted that it was the only course of action, and as this was about my 4th opinion (I might me in denial about the state of it) I suggested that we left it 30 or 40 years or so.
We did discuss the implications of a fused wrist. The no pain thing sounded tempting but then the no cycling on a road bike, being able to have one hand position sounded less tempting. The whole no guitar playing, difficulty cutting food and eating soup thing sounded even less tempting and a reliance on pain killers was beginning to sound like a winner. From what Mrs Consultant said, driving sounded like it would be fun and as its my right wrist, I would have to have an automatic car. Now I have no problem with autos but they are not as much fun to drive as cars with a proper gearbox.

Hubby has just come home with a new neoprene wrist support - my old one has vanished somewhere - and has the kettle on.

Yes, I can completely see why you're not sold on the idea.:headshake: Having it properly supported & rested for a few days should help a bit. (I know it isn't a long term solution though).

The pain comes and goes. Some days its just a dull ache and I barely notice it as I am so used to it. Other days I am on painkillers and have my wrist resting on a cushion and I sit about and feel sorry for myself.
I have done too much over the last few days. It won't hurt any extra so I might as well finish the ceiling so hubby can get the carpet down and the bed back together. Sleeping on a mattress on the floor probably hasn't helped my back

It will be fine in a few days, it always is. Obviously fine, is a relative term ^_^. I really like this new strapping, it supports where it should and leaves my thumb free and doesn't restrict it. much better than the last one.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Sorry about your wrist saluki. Can't be very nice never knowing if you are going to be in pain or not.
