Whats a bing bot do. ?

Bing is Microsofts version of a search engine.
The "Bots" travel the internet "indexing" web pages to make searches better and faster.

The same as a Google Bot.
It/they check the content of the thread, so they can get personalised search results for you.
Of course there are some who say they pass the information onto the US secret services!!
