Quite so, last year and the year before we spent a month in a Greek speaking village in the mountains of Cyprus. The friendliness of the locals was a joy - so unlike the larger coastal towns on the island . It was hard to walk to the village shop without being almost dragged into a house or two for a coffee and biscuit.

I live in a very smal village, more like a hamlet really. Everyone knows everyone.
