WD, fixing a puncture is easy enough, but it helps to have the knack, and to practice getting the tyre on and off and the tube refitted and so on. Ask Mr D to teach you, and to tell you if he has any little tips on how to make it easy. Knowing the process is one thing, knowing how to make it easier is another!

Not if you make the effort to learn. None of us are born knowing how to do anything but eat and breathe and poo. It's what you make the effort to learn that matters. And you'll hardly have needed to learn all those years you weren't cycling.
