I know who did it & why. Dog had run across an empty field, frightening the sheep in it. Public footpath runs through these fields, so We we're not trespassing.
I went back to try & recover the dog, by this time the person who choked him had him, by the neck. Dog thrown into a small empty out building & me into the house. All the while aware he was holding a shotgun. I said I'd stay with the dog, I trusted the dog more than him & told him as much. Also because I knew he didn't like the dog itself.
Dog "found dead" having "swallowed" around a 1lb of baling twine/cord. Given that its nylon, what sort of dog would chew & swallow that amount. We found out the amount because the police had the dog examined by a vet. From his mouth to his stomach was just jammed with this nylon cord.
Im sorry if this was a farmer .

He claimed to be, because he lived in the farm house. Other than that I wouldn't class him as a farmer. Farming in the family, meant I had a better idea than he did, that farming actually involved more than looking over open fields.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Finally got rid of son and grandsons. Sorry to hear about the way your dog died. That is a terrible thing to happen. We have a public footpsth running through our land, but as long as people have they're dogs on a lead I don't care. The ducks run lose so I like people to have proper control over they're dogs.

That was the reason he gave to the police.
He was never keen on the footpath being there. Dog was on a lead at the time. When you see someone approaching you, with a shotgun in hand, self preservation comes to the fore. Thats when the dog got away from me, I slid trying to get behind a wall.

I know what you mean. Some people are like that. To be honest we don't get many people using the footpath. Maybe only 3 or 4 per year. Most people are nice and we often have a chat with them. We have had people from Germany, Australia, even. They can be quite fun. Some people do hate footpaths though and will do anything to stop people from using them.

Well, he's not there now. Hopefully, somewhere there's an Alsatian stuffing baling twine/cord down his throat!
