It is only a tree, so why do I feel so sad? It is damaged beyond saving caused by the very wet weather of last year and the Honey fungus.

I think that once a new tree is planted there, I will feel better.

Two tree fellers are arriving this afternoon. The tree will be chopped down  and then shredded. The shreddings are taken away to someone who has a lots of stables, and horses. The chippings are used on the tracks around the stables.

The remaining stump will then have holes drilled into it. Later in the year, plants will be put in that cover the remains of the stump. At the end of today I will have a large bill from the tree fellers and an even larger one from the garage. My car failed its MOT.

On a brighter note, Leo got a clean bill of health from the Vet, whereas I just got the bill.

Number 1 son has just texted me from the Philippines. He's in a pickle. His debit card has been blocked - he forgot his PIN number and guessed wrongly. He has run out of money. Barclays will not speak to me about his account. He has called them with the last bit of credit on his phone and they suggest either (i) he goes to a Barclays to correct it - I don't think there is one any nearer than 1,000 miles away (ii) he goes to an international ATM which might allow him to reset his PIN (over three hours travel away and might not work) (iii) they post him a new card to his home address in Finchley. I know it's his own fault but I'd like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Barclays for being so helpful and understanding in this case. I wonder if the MD of Barclays has ever had a child who is stuck somewhere without any money......:banghead:

So what are you going to do ?

Barclays took over ING so I wont be using that account again, cant be doing with them :headshake:

I think he's trying to borrow some cash from a friend and I'll transfer the equivalent into his friend's account. He'll then order a new card and I'll take it out when we go in 4 weeks time. It's a bit of a long winded solution to a problem which could be solved in seconds electronically by Barclays

Oh ok I was going to say you could have it sent by courier, but if your going anyway what better excuse could you have
