You'd think using one of these would have been more effective...

Or, could combine the two....

Had one of those 'is my cat plotting my downfall' moments. Here's why...

Took Snipe out for a 6 mile walk this morning and came to conclusion that if I was as cold by the time I got home from that trek as when I left, there's no way my fingers would cope with going out on the bike  so shelved that plan and decided to clean them (the bikes) instead.

It was all going fine until the trigger attachment thingy on the end of the hosepipe came off and my hands got wet. Ignored the road bike, cleaned and lubed the Marin's chain etc and got the worst of the crud off the frame and brakes, then bid a hasty retreat for the house.

I've only just got the feeling back in my fingers. :cold: Oh well, at least the Marin's rideable for my stupid-o'clock appointment in the morning. If it's going to be this cold then I'd rather it was from snow and not a biting easterly wind. *grump*

Whenever I'm cold I tell myself that I'm far better off than, for example, the troops in the Siege of Bastogne in December 1944. The Band of Brothers DVD has interviews with several former paratroopers and one of them said that whenever he feels cold in bed, he remembers what it was like in his foxhole without cold weather gear or enough food in the harshest winter in living memory and tells his wife "I'm just glad I'm not back in Bastogne". Stuff like that just makes you (me) feel like a pampered wuss. And that's without even thinking about the concentration camps.

Morning :hello:
Another bitterly cold ride home, at least the sun was out even at 6am :sun:

I now have a cat and a hot coffee warming me up :cuppa: :cold:

Yeah, it looked lovely first thing, well, I got the impression it was through the closed curtains. Reckon the wind will be bitter though, waiting for a train...

@Arch

Where does Seamus live these days?

At this precise moment, he's lying on top of a shelf looking down at me. He's wearing his hi-vis jacket and helmet, for some reason.

He'll move when I do, along with his small wardrobe of outfits.

In other news, what kind of idiot goes out and gets a haircut on the coldest day this century? And forgets to take their gloves when they do?

Oh....

Still, tonight I will have minced beef and onion pie, Smash and baked beans for dinner. :hungry:

:cuppa:?

(for Rocky's benefit, this is Seamus, in modern cycling garb:

He also has a tweed outfit with deerstalker, for vintage cycling.)
