Blimey, it's chucking down here :rain:. I'm sitting at my desk trying to colour in an academic paper and making slow progress.

Glad to see you're working hard through difficult circumstances

I'm a bit worried about this trannie......we see plenty of them down here in London. I thought I might give it a go myself one of these days when the weather is bad and I can't go out for a ride. :giggle:

I know what kind of trannie you go for, this is the kind of thing I play around with:

Is that the engine to go on Jo's bike to get her round the Beauty? :giggle:

Good grief, there's been yet another incident on the railway line near Taunton. A man was killed yesterday morning after accelerating over the line as the warning went off, and earlier today a car fell 20ft onto the line - though the driver was absolutely fine. I cycle down that road a lot - where she went over is just after a corner so I assume she was driving too fast for the conditions, given how much rain has fallen over the last two days.

As you were.

Since I joined Twitter, I 'follow' TranspennineExpress, Northern and East Coast, for delay updates. It's sobering to realise how often it's due to "a person hit by a train" - at least once a week. And you don't tend to bounce off a train harmlessly. And really, there are only two reasons for being hit by a train - wanting to be hit by one, or being stupid.

Anyway, no such delays today, no hold up on the train, although when I got to the tram platform there was an announcement that no trams would be leaving Piccadilly so we should get a tram from Mosley Street. So I had to figure out how to get there on foot (never done it before), and then walk in the bitterest wind! I texted NT as I walked, to update him, and had to take my glove off to do it, and thought I'd got frostbite!

Got here eventually, now nicely full of dinner, ready for a :cuppa: and watching Madness performing at TV Centre which closes today. This makes me , coz I grew up seeing TV Centre on the, well, TV, and maybe now I'll never see it for real.

Dont leave that laying around or NT will build his latest tractor around it.
I have been 'test fitting' the revised layout for my electric reverse trike cargo version.

With the suspension on full bump and the steering turned full left lock I can get a 32" wide bench seat in between the wheel arches.

Now I have the positions of the seat and the foot-well I can start designing the front end of the chassis to support the cab.
Ignore how close the rear wheel looks, there is about 4' still to add back into the wheelbase.

That looks fun, NT. When will it be ready to drive?

Will you need TVC's transformer to charge the batteries?
No deadline due to no funds. It will depend on how much scrap I can find on my travels.

The batteries will be 12 x 12v lead acid. With 50Ah cells I can, in theory, get 40 mph and 25 miles range within that 7.2kwh, down to 50% depth of discharge. I only need to manage around 10 miles at no more then 40mph to use it to do small local jobs.

That's the plan, to get it built for when I am well enough to work regularly and then to use it to get around to all those local small repair and joinery jobs I used to do a lot of. So long as I can get my tools and materials on board, the largest thing being a few sheets of 8x4' boards, I'll be happy.

Behind the cab it will be a 28" wide backbone chassis that will hold the batteries, motor and the rear suspension swingarm. Tools will sit in locker space above the batteries in the backbone and other materials will sit in panniers hung on either side. Above will be a skeletal flat bed that will support sheet materials.
