Going to spend the afternoon on my knees fitting laminate floor edge beads for a friend. Not my most favorite of tasks but it gives me something to do outside my house.
You want to try 'waiting in all day for a second attempt at a washing machine delivery'!

A friend of mine paid £20 extra to get her new machine delivered and installed and the old one taken away. The courier huffed and puffed and said he shouldn't have to do that, broke the tap on the hot water pipe, and then refused to do any more so my friend refused to sign for the new machine and he took it away in a sulk. Various angry phone calls resulted in grovelling apologies and a promise that the man coming today is reliable. The problem is that my friend is in Manchester until this afternoon so I am hanging about waiting for a call from Washing Machine Delivery Man so I can let him in. It's amazing how many things you can think of doing when you can't actually go out and do them! (Ha - like riding a bike in the sunshine, f'instance!)

When I first moved into this house we bought a new washer and dryer and paid for delivery and installation. When the delivery eventually came the chaps refused to bring the machines into the house as they needed to be taken up more then one flight of stairs.
They also refused the 'connection' part of the job, if I took the machines up, as there was still on going building works!

I was referring to occasional freak weather events since our Otley forum ride last July!

I'm happy not to be on my bike today, but I don't like being told to stay in. 11:00-15:00 (ish) is a bit of a vague delivery time!

I always try and use DPD whan I get a choice as they email and text you at 9am and give you an hour window when they will be there.

UPS are also very good they always turn up on time for me and parcel force are here about 10am ish.

But I try not to do business with anyone who use City Link and I am not keen on TNT or Yodel. Yodel were ok then they were DHL they were always here on time but now I just avoid them.

Also APC are ok as there is a depot in Harrogate so I can just pick stuff up from there and they know me as I sometime use them for send stuff out.

Yay - the delivery has just been made!

The driver had a job reversing up the narrow cobbled backstreet which has cars parked either side. He nearly knocked over a motorbike which was sticking out from the kerb, but spotted it at the last moment. (He was probably distracted by me waving at him and shouting "watch out for the motorbike"!)

The power socket for the washing machine is dead but the machine works off an extension lead so that isn't the delivery man's problem. He has taken the old machine away.

I have just noticed that one of the circuit breakers is missing from the power distribution board ... I wonder if the previous dodgy delivery man/installation guy took it out and didn't put it back? I'll find out when the proud new washer owner arrives home.

Yippie!!

I, too, hate waiting in for delivery drivers. If I buy something from Amazon, I've decided that it is worth the extra couple of quid to get an evening delivery - saves wasting a whole day. Having said that the burglar alarm people are coming sometime on Friday between 12.00 and 5.30 - I suspect they know when they will be with me but they are keeping it top secret

You can get it delivered to various drop off points and amazon lockers now rocky, they delivered one of my orders to a local supermarket last week then I just pop in and pick it up and it was the same price as a normal delivery.

They say animals look like their owners, or is it the other way round. Leo has a hurty leg, and so have I now.

It feels like I have a sharp bit on the top edge of my knee cap. There is not sign of damage on the outside. My diagnosis is IDK. This is the same diagnosis that I had with my other knee many years ago.

I have been rearranging my compost heap this morning, and found a brush in the mix somewhere.
A shower is now on the agenda, and then watching the last hour of the cycling.
