I'm so proud. I was just talking to my sister on the phone, and she said nephew Oli had had to choose a hero to talk about at school to little groups of friends. He chose David Attenborough.

Sis helped him find out some facts, and he did his little talk to a small group, and it was so good the teacher got him to do it to the whole class, and then he got a gold star at assembly the next day.

(apparently the facts included that he grew up near where Grandma lives, that he went to the school Mummy went to, and his brother is an actor and director. And that while Steve Backshaw has only been doing telly for about 5 years, David Attenborough has been doing it for 60 years.)

Maybe, I need to get him one of those boxset boxsets!
Well done Oli!!!

Someone on another forum I used to visit said that when her son was quite young, he came running into the kitchen one day. "Mummy, mummy, quick! Saint David is on the tele!"

NT, how is your tractor? Is its differential still poorly?
The tractor is good, not been out for a while but the batteries are holding charge nicely.
The diff has been welded solid and so doesn't 'differentiate' anymore. I have been measuring up the Land Rover Salisbury axle that I will be cutting down to size for it. The Salisbury diff casting is 5" wider then the tractor's chassis!

But will you be able to get it out of the house or will you have to knock a wall down?

Now that would make a good weekend activity
The doors open to 42" wide. If I cut the axle down to use short half shafts on both sides then it will be 52" wide. I will either have to build it outside or cut the axle right down and make up new shorter half shafts. I am tempted by the second option as it saves having a very narrow front axle relative to the rear one, and I can still park it in the house.

I've not got a problem like that but I do store my bikes in the bedroom at the top of the house (we've got three floors). I have to take off the wheels before bringing a bike down to ride because the top stair case is narrow and winding.....Mrs R has got fed up with black rubber marks on the wall.

There's a solution to that.

Black wallpaper.

NT, I think your tractor is in luck...;)

A couple of weeks back, we tackled putting the hole in the wall that will accommodate our shower. It was just plasterboard and studs, so NT sawed through it, and I stood on the other side and giggled about the cartoony-ness of seeing the end of the saw coming to and fro through the wall!

I'm just back from my ride.

Just in case you don't believe me, I'll post that again.....

I'm just back from my ride.

23 miles in the :sun:. This bike riding thing is fun, isn't it?

:cuppa: anyone?

I am waiting in for couriers :cursing: otherwise I have a free day so I guess I will have to wait until the weekend as they arent due until between 1 and 3pm  but I may get a little ride in at the backend of the day.

Still its not been a total loss I bought another helicopter off one of the heli forums.

Ah, one for each day of the week

I already have the same heli I bought today, the reason I bought it was because it is a bargain and I can sell mine to more than cover the cost.

So the heli and charger and 2 batteries new costs a min of £105

Each battery costs a min of £3.49 each and there are 17 plus the upgrades to the heli (the red metal bits you can see in the pic) cost nearly £70

So here is what I got for £90

17 batteries!
TDR style canopy
Upgraded Lynx solid main shaft
Lynx main performance blades
BNIP swash, head, tail rotor (x2), linkage rods, main grips
Also has MANY other slightly used spares including 2 canopies, gears, grips, tail unit etc.
Original box, charger and manual.
