Taxi's, White Van Man & Boy Racers

Why do certain motorists particulary Taxi drivers feel the need to leave little more than 2 feet gap when driving past agressively at speed?

sure white van man and teenagers are utter dickheads on the road and usually speed past at 50% less distance than most motorists but you would think Taxis would be more responsible but time and again these arrogant nasty thugs feel the need to almost clip me from behind or run me into the kerb
utter bastards
what are your experiences with Taxis? are they the most inconsiderate motorists? outdoing even white van man and youths?

It's easy to remember the bad drivers. I personally don't have an issue with most taxi drivers, white vans or 'boy racers'.

I have no problem with taxi drivers, I am one. So don't tar us all with the same brush!

I continue to be impressed with how cyclists handle themselves when confronted by aggressive driving and ***** drivers, especially when dealing with them face to face.

Has there been any follow up to that incident?

Everyone is equally capable of killing you.
This afternoon, the pattern seemed to be middle aged ladies in reasonably priced cars.
There's always someeone who doesn't get that they must give you the same space as a car and shouldn't be looking to execute a pass where they couldn't manage to pass another car or van there.

My own point of view is not to treat one group of road users as more or less dangerous than the other.
They can all kill me either by intent or by incompetence. Why give one group precedence at the risk of deeming another group less dangerous.

They're all out to kill you.
Every one of them.

Arrgghhhh.....I'm a White Van Man (Well, Woman actually) But I'm a really nice one, honest!

Education, Education, Education! Cycle lanes are NOT obligatory, 'Road Tax' does not exist - we read 'Cyclecraft', the IAM guide, and the Highway Code - WE know cyclists should assume the Primary position - but it seems that 99% of drivers don't know these things - as a result THEY know they are right, and accuse US of being the law breakers, in the wrong. How can this be changed?

I take issue with the teenagers being bad drivers - we are no more a group of bad drivers than anybody else. Please don't assume because some knob in a Saxo cut you up, we're all like that - we're not. I'm certainly not.
