Why did you get 35mm (clamping) bars? Doesn't this limit the stems you can use? Is their performance better (than 31.8mm bars) and if so in what way?I have 35mm alloy width bars
They came with the bike, which is a Felt VR, so halfway between a road and cyclo-cross or travel bike. The stem could easily be swapped for a 31.8mm one should I feel the need, but I'd obviously need to change the bars too.Why did you get 35mm (clamping) bars? Doesn't this limit the stems you can use? I've always wrapped it in one single length per side, starting at the bar ends and working inwards. Am I unusual in that? You should have enough. Remember to wrap from the inside to out on the drop section(clockwise looking from the saddle) and the opposite direction on the tops.
As circumference is proportional to diameter, the maths is easy.more tape would be required to cover 35mm diameter bars vs 31.8 mm diameter bars,
I refer the honourable lady to the maths in my post above (post 12). Only a small portion of the taped bar is 35mm so much less than 10% extra is required. So roughly 10% more tape.
