personally I think a spinney would be better as it would rise above the hedges and be more controllable + I'm not a fan of tacking in traffic :biggrin:

anything thats not blowing either down or up the lane isn't too much of an issue round here as we have devon banks (about 2-4 foot of earth with another 4+ foot of hedge on top) which block almost all the wind, gates were great fun though

Works in deep water too - happily pedalling through the floods a couple of winters ago, and the forces changed quite a lot when I got to gates.

When there is allegedly a wind in my favour, I do not recognise it as such.

The fact that all my best times to and from anywhere are posted when I am allegedly assisted by a tailwind is pure coincidence... nothing more.

Tailwinds are fantasy... the critical factor is my skill as a cyclist and the hard work I put in at all times.

Headwinds, of course, do exist.

Even when no-one else can feel them they slow me down terribly on days whan I post poor times.
