SWMBO wants a bike!

Mrs S has just announced that she wants a bike  She has done this before and muggins had to drive from Bolton to Nottingham to collect a Specialized Dolce purchased off fleabay. Now don't get me wrong, for the money the bike was spot on, but Mrs S took to it quite homestly like a duck to knitting

I'm not sure what she thinks will be different this time, but never the less I am now duty bound to put the feelers out to see if anyone has anything they think may be suitable. She's only around 5' tall, so she only needs a likkle one

Any riding will be definately be at a leisurly pace, and probably more on tracks, paths and trails rather than the road.

My initial thoughts are towards a hybrid, but I have no experience of this genre of bike.

So any ideas are welcome, help!!

One of Halfords Carrera offerings? This is the one without the silly front suspension http://www.halfords....tegoryId_165534

They are more rugged than a Dolce which is sporty!

Do you have a budget?

Something like that could work. Budget wise, I don't want to spend much after what happened last time, then again, I've always been an advocate of the old saying, "You get what you pay for".

So I suspect something second hand upto about £200ish. I'm in the process of selling my carbon bike, and when that's gone we'll probably buy something then, but even with that kind of money in my pocket I've got to play it safe this time.

Why doesn't muggins learn from his mistake and take her to Decathlon in Stockport and let her try a few and choose?

I have learnt  She was adamant she wanted a road bike last time, (despite my protestations!). I don't want to buy new as I'll simply never spend around £200 on a new bike, it's simply not worth it IMHO. I'm fully aware she'll get a much better second hand bike than new for upto around £200.

So I'm really asking if anyone has had a similar experience with SWMBO, or HWMBO, and how they resolved it, what bike they chose and if it worked out long term.
